Right inferior thyroid artery
Arteria thyroidea inferior dextra · Pravá dolní štítná tepna
Heart & arteries
Looks like
A branch of the thyrocervical trunk looping up and in behind the carotid to the lower back of the thyroid.
What it does
Supplies the thyroid, parathyroid glands, voice box and upper gullet.
Keeping it well
Crosses the nerve to the vocal cord; thyroid surgeons protect both. Hoarseness after thyroid surgery needs review.
