Right external oblique
Musculus obliquus externus abdominis dexter · Pravý zevní šikmý sval břišní
Muscles
Looks like
The largest, outermost flat muscle of the side of the belly, running from the lower 8 ribs down and forward to the pelvis and the midline.
What it does
Twists the trunk to the opposite side, bends it forward and sideways, and squeezes the belly when coughing.
Keeping it well
Side strains are common in throwing sports; a bulge in the groin that goes back when lying down suggests a hernia.
