A small branch of the femoral artery just below the groin crease, running up in the fat of the lower belly toward the navel.
What it does
Supplies the skin and fat of the lower abdomen.
Keeping it well
Plastic surgeons can base a lower-belly flap on it (SIEA flap) for breast reconstruction; it is often too small to use.
