Distal phalanx of right thumb
Phalanx distalis pollicis dextri · Koncový článek pravého palce ruky
Skeleton
Looks like
The tip bone of the thumb, under the nail, with a broad rough tuft at its end.
What it does
Supports the thumb pad and nail and is where the long thumb flexor inserts.
Keeping it well
Crush injuries break its tuft, often with a nail bed injury; blood under the nail may need draining.
