The continuation of the internal thoracic artery into the belly wall, running down behind the rectus (six-pack) muscle.
What it does
Supplies the upper belly wall and joins the inferior epigastric artery from below.
Keeping it well
Can bleed into the rectus sheath after injections or violent coughing; a painful lump in the belly wall needs a check.
