The larger end branch of the posterior tibial artery, crossing the sole outward, then curving back inward deep in the foot.
What it does
Supplies the outer sole and forms most of the deep plantar arch.
Keeping it well
Deep puncture wounds of the sole can injure it; it is also a route for foot bypass surgery in severe disease.
