Sense organs
Looks like
A thin flat muscle running from the back of the eye socket forward into the upper eyelid.
What it does
Lifts and holds up the upper eyelid; supplied by the oculomotor nerve, with a small helper muscle under sympathetic control.
Keeping it well
Its tendon stretches with age or contact lenses, causing a droopy lid fixable by surgery. Sudden droop needs a doctor.
