The largest branch of the vertebral artery, looping around the lower brainstem to the underside of the cerebellum.

What it does

Supplies the side of the medulla and the lower cerebellum.

Keeping it well

Its blockage gives Wallenberg syndrome: vertigo, hoarse voice, trouble swallowing, unsteady walk. Sudden onset needs an ambulance.
