Tiny arteries from the first part of the posterior cerebral artery that pierce up into the middle of the thalamus.

What it does

Supply the inner thalamus and upper midbrain, key for alertness and memory.

Keeping it well

In some people one artery (of Percheron) feeds both sides; its blockage causes sudden deep drowsiness and memory loss.
