Tarsal plate of right lower eyelid
Tarsus inferior dexter · Tarzální ploténka pravého dolního víčka
Fascia & connective tissue
Looks like
A firm plate of dense tissue inside the lower eyelid, narrower than the upper one, about 4–5 mm tall.
What it does
Keeps the lower lid firm against the eye and holds oil glands for the tear film.
Keeping it well
With age it can loosen, letting the lid turn out or in, causing watering or irritation; a simple operation fixes it.
