Osseous skeleton of internal nose
Skeleton osseum nasi interni · Kostěná kostra vnitřního nosu
Skeleton
Looks like
The bones walling the nasal cavity: the bony septum in the middle, the conchae and side walls, the roof (ethmoid) and the floor (palate).
What it does
Shapes the air passages and carries the lining that cleans, warms and moistens inhaled air; the sinuses drain through its walls.
Keeping it well
A deviated septum or narrow drainage channels can cause blockage and recurrent sinusitis; CT maps it before sinus surgery.
