Long ciliary nerve
Nervus ciliaris longus · Dlouhý řasnatý nerv
Nervous system
Looks like
Two or three fine branches of the nasociliary nerve that pierce the back of the eyeball.
What it does
Bring feeling from the cornea and iris and carry fibres that widen the pupil.
Keeping it well
They carry the corneal blink reflex; losing it (e.g. after shingles) risks corneal ulcers.
