Long head of biceps femoris
Caput longum musculi bicipitis femoris · Dlouhá hlava dvojhlavého svalu stehenního
Muscles
Looks like
The outer hamstring's long head, from the sitting bone down the back of the thigh to the head of the fibula.
What it does
Bends the knee and straightens the hip; turns the leg outward when the knee is bent.
Keeping it well
The most often torn hamstring in sprinting; Nordic curls reduce risk. A big pop with bruising at the sitting bone needs early surgical review.
