Lower first secondary molar tooth
Dens molaris primus inferior · Dolní první stálá stolička
Skeleton
Looks like
The large permanent back tooth in the lower jaw, sixth from the middle, with two roots and five cusps.
What it does
The main grinding tooth; it erupts around age 6 and anchors the bite behind the milk teeth.
Keeping it well
Its deep grooves decay early — sealants in children help. Lingering pain with hot food or swelling of the jaw needs a dentist.
