Inferior nasal conchae
Conchae nasales inferiores · Dolní nosní skořepy
Skeleton
Looks like
A curled scroll of thin bone along the lower side wall of each nasal cavity, covered in thick lining.
What it does
Supports the lowest turbinate that warms, moistens and filters incoming air.
Keeping it well
Its lining swells in allergy and colds; decongestant sprays used longer than about a week cause rebound blockage.
