Two small L-shaped bones at the back of the nose, forming the rear part of the hard palate.
What it does
Complete the roof of the mouth and the floor and side wall of the back of the nose.
Keeping it well
No care needed; failure of the palate halves to join before birth leaves a cleft palate, repaired surgically in infancy.
