The lowest trunk of the brachial plexus, formed by the C8 and T1 roots, lying on the first rib.
What it does
Carries fibres to the small muscles of the hand and feeling from the inner forearm and hand.
Keeping it well
Pulled in a birth injury or a fall catching a branch (Klumpke palsy); an extra rib can press it in thoracic outlet syndrome.
