Occipital sinus
Sinus occipitalis · Týlní splav
Veins
Looks like
The smallest venous sinus, running down in the fold of dura behind the cerebellum towards the edge of the skull opening.
What it does
Links the confluence of sinuses with the veins around the foramen magnum.
Keeping it well
Can be larger in children, so surgeons check for it before operating at the back of the skull.
