Confluence of sinuses

Looks like

The meeting point of several venous sinuses on the inside of the skull at the back, near the bump you can feel there.

What it does

Collects the superior sagittal, straight and occipital sinuses and sends blood to both transverse sinuses.

Keeping it well

A clot or injury here affects drainage from much of the brain; a skull fracture at the back of the head needs a scan.

Its parts

• Inferior sagittal sinus
• Occipital sinus
• Straight sinus
• Superior sagittal sinus
