Sacrococcygeal symphysis
Articulatio sacrococcygea · Křížokostrčové spojení
Joints & cartilage
Looks like
The joint between the bottom of the sacrum and the coccyx (tailbone), joined by a thin disc and ligaments.
What it does
Lets the tailbone tilt back slightly when sitting and during childbirth.
Keeping it well
Falls on the bottom and childbirth can strain it, causing pain on sitting (coccydynia), which usually settles with time and cushions.
