Sacrospinous ligament
Ligamentum sacrospinale · Křížotrnový vaz
Joints & cartilage
Looks like
A thin triangular band from the side of the sacrum and coccyx to the ischial spine, lying in front of the sacrotuberous ligament.
What it does
Stops the lower sacrum tipping backward and divides the gap into the greater and lesser sciatic openings.
Keeping it well
Surgeons stitch the vaginal vault to it to treat prolapse. The pudendal nerve passes just behind its tip.
