Deep palmar arch
Arcus palmaris profundus · Hluboký dlaňový tepenný oblouk
Heart & arteries
Looks like
An arch of artery lying deep in the palm on the bases of the hand bones, about a finger's width closer to the wrist than the superficial arch.
What it does
Mainly from the radial artery; feeds the deep hand muscles, the bones and, through linking vessels, the fingers.
Keeping it well
Linked with the superficial arch, so the hand usually survives loss of one forearm artery; hand surgeons respect both.
