Looks like

A boat-shaped wrist bone on the thumb side, bridging the near and far carpal rows; felt in the hollow at the base of the thumb.

What it does

Links the two rows and stabilises the wrist during movement and load.

Keeping it well

The most commonly broken wrist bone, often missed on first X-ray. Snuffbox pain after a fall needs a splint and repeat imaging — untreated, its blood supply can fail.
