Precommunicating part of right posterior cerebral artery
Pars precommunicalis arteriae cerebri posterioris dextrae · Předspojovací část pravé zadní mozkové tepny
Heart & arteries
Looks like
The first short stretch of the posterior cerebral artery (P1), from the top of the basilar artery to where the posterior communicating artery joins.
What it does
Carries blood from the basilar artery to the back of the brain and gives perforating branches to the thalamus and midbrain.
Keeping it well
Sometimes very thin, with the posterior cerebral artery then fed mainly from the carotid. Blockage causes deep thalamic or midbrain strokes.
