Superior division of upper lobe part of left bronchial tree
Divisio superior partis lobaris superioris arboris bronchialis sinistrae · Horní oddíl hornolalokové části levého průduškového stromu
Respiratory system
Looks like
The upper of the two branches of the left upper lobe bronchus, splitting into the apicoposterior (B1+2) and anterior (B3) bronchi.
What it does
Ventilates the main upper part of the left upper lobe (its 'upper division').
Keeping it well
Surgeons can remove this division alone, sparing the lingula (a trisegmentectomy) for small cancers.
