Insular part of middle cerebral artery
Pars insularis arteriae cerebri mediae · Ostrovní část střední mozkové tepny
Heart & arteries
Looks like
The stretch of the middle cerebral artery (M2) lying on the insula, the hidden lobe deep in the side groove of the brain, usually split in two or three trunks.
What it does
Supplies the insula and carries blood on to the branches that fan over the outer brain surface.
Keeping it well
Clots here cause a stroke smaller than an M1 block; it can still be treated if recognised early.
