Trunk of inferior terminal branch of middle cerebral artery
Truncus terminalis inferior arteriae cerebri mediae · Kmen dolní koncové větve střední mozkové tepny
Heart & arteries
Looks like
The lower of the main trunks the middle cerebral artery splits into on the insula.
What it does
Feeds the temporal lobe and the back of the parietal lobe, including speech-understanding areas on the dominant side.
Keeping it well
Its blockage on the left often causes fluent but meaningless speech with poor understanding, often without weakness — still an emergency.
