A small branch from the middle meningeal or maxillary artery, entering the skull through the oval hole at its base.
What it does
Supplies chewing muscles, the ear tube and some of the dura near the trigeminal nerve ganglion.
Keeping it well
Can feed tumours of the skull base; seen and sometimes blocked on angiography before surgery.
