A small branch of the inferior alveolar nerve running in a groove on the inside of the lower jaw.
What it does
Moves the mylohyoid (floor of the mouth) and the front belly of the digastric muscle.
Keeping it well
Rarely injured; it can explain incomplete numbness in lower dental blocks.
