Segmentum mediale sinistrum hepatis (IV) · Jaterní segment IV
Digestive system
Looks like
Segment IV (quadrate area): the medial part of the left liver, between the gallbladder and the falciform ligament.
What it does
A functional liver unit, divided into upper IVa and lower IVb.
Keeping it well
Segment IVb is removed with the gallbladder for some gallbladder cancers. Fatty sparing near the gallbladder is a harmless scan finding.
