One of the two end branches of the basilar artery, curving back around the midbrain to the underside and back of the brain.
What it does
Supplies the visual cortex, the underside of the temporal lobe, the thalamus and part of the midbrain.
Keeping it well
Its stroke usually causes sudden loss of half the field of vision, sometimes memory loss. Sudden vision loss needs an ambulance.
