Hepatovenous segment ix
Segmentum hepatis IX · Jaterní segment IX
Digestive system
Looks like
A rarely used subdivision: the right part of the caudate region next to the inferior vena cava, described by Couinaud as segment IX.
What it does
Liver tissue drained directly into the vena cava, like the rest of the caudate lobe.
Keeping it well
Not used in most clinical reports, which count it as part of segment I; relevant only to specialised liver surgery.
