Lymphocyti T · T lymfocyty
Lymphatic & immune
Looks like
Lymphocytes that mature in the thymus; they look like other lymphocytes and are told apart by surface markers.
What it does
Helper T cells direct the immune response; killer T cells destroy infected and cancerous cells.
Keeping it well
Lost in HIV infection, which leaves the body open to unusual infections; testing and treatment keep them up. Attacks on the body's own tissues cause some autoimmune diseases.
