Articular capsule of glenohumeral joint
Capsula articularis articulationis humeri · Kloubní pouzdro ramenního kloubu
Joints & cartilage
Looks like
A loose, roomy sleeve around the shoulder ball-and-socket joint, from the rim of the socket to the neck of the arm bone.
What it does
Holds the joint fluid while allowing the widest range of motion in the body; its folds let the arm hang and reach.
Keeping it well
It can shrink and stiffen (frozen shoulder), or be stretched after dislocation, leaving the shoulder unstable.
