Articular capsule of sternoclavicular joint
Capsula articularis articulationis sternoclavicularis · Kloubní pouzdro hrudně-klíčkového kloubu
Joints & cartilage
Looks like
A strong capsule around the joint between the collarbone and the breastbone, the only bony link of the arm to the trunk.
What it does
Encloses the joint and, with its ligaments, holds it very firmly.
Keeping it well
Can develop arthritis or, rarely, infection (in people who inject drugs or with diabetes). A hot swollen joint needs urgent review.
