A hammock-like thickening of the lower capsule, with front and back bands, from the socket rim to the arm bone.
What it does
The main restraint against the shoulder slipping forward when the arm is raised and turned out.
Keeping it well
Torn or stretched in forward dislocation, the commonest shoulder dislocation; repaired in stabilisation surgery.
