Nucleus pulposus C2-C3
Nucleus pulposus C II–C III · Rosolovité jádro ploténky C2–C3
Joints & cartilage
Looks like
The soft, gel-like core of the disc between C2 and C3 in the neck, sitting slightly behind the disc's centre inside a ring of tough fibres.
What it does
Mostly water held in a gel; it spreads load evenly across the vertebrae and acts as the pivot on which this level bends.
Keeping it well
A bulge at C2–C3 can pinch the C3 nerve, giving pain or tingling in the back of the head and upper neck. Weak or clumsy hands and legs mean cord pressure and need prompt review.
