One of three ribbons of lengthwise muscle on the colon, lying where the greater omentum attaches to the transverse colon.
What it does
Works with the other taeniae to shorten the colon and shape its pouches.
Keeping it well
All three taeniae meet at the base of the appendix, which surgeons use to find it.
