One of the two halves of the cerebrum, joined to the other by the corpus callosum; folded into lobes and gyri.
What it does
Each half controls movement and feeling on the opposite side of the body; one side (usually left) leads language.
Keeping it well
Stroke in one hemisphere gives weakness or numbness on the other side of the body. Call emergency services at once.
