A small knee-shaped bump on the back underside of the thalamus, where the optic tract ends.
What it does
The main visual relay: passes signals from the eyes to the visual cortex in the occipital lobe.
Keeping it well
Damage causes loss of part of the visual field on the opposite side. Sudden vision loss needs emergency care.
