Anatom3DPosterior inferior segmental tributary of hepatic vein
Vena segmentalis posterior inferior hepatis · Zadní dolní segmentová žíla jater
Veins
Looks like
A branch of the right hepatic vein draining the lower back part of the right liver (segment 6); sometimes a separate vein into the vena cava.
What it does
Carries blood from segment 6 to the right hepatic vein or straight to the vena cava.
Keeping it well
When it is large and separate, it lets surgeons keep segment 6 even after removing the right hepatic vein.
