Orbitofrontal cortex
Cortex orbitofrontalis · Orbitofrontální kůra
Nervous system
Looks like
The underside of the frontal lobes, resting on the roofs of the eye sockets.
What it does
Weighs reward and consequence, guiding social behaviour and decisions.
Keeping it well
Easily bruised in head injuries; a marked change in personality or disinhibition after injury or in middle age needs neurological assessment.
