A strip of cortex just behind the central groove at the top of each hemisphere, mapping the body as a distorted figure.

What it does

Receives touch, pain, temperature and position sense from the opposite side of the body.

Keeping it well

Stroke is the main threat; sudden numbness down one side of the body needs emergency care.
