Falx cerebri
Falx cerebri · Mozkový srp (falx cerebri)
Nervous system
Looks like
A sickle-shaped fold of tough dura hanging down in the midline groove between the two cerebral hemispheres.
What it does
Holds the two halves of the brain in place and carries large venous channels (sagittal sinuses) along its edges.
Keeping it well
A mass on one side can push the brain under it (subfalcine herniation). It can calcify, a harmless finding on CT.
