A connected set of four cavities inside the brain — two lateral, the third and the fourth — joined by narrow channels.
What it does
Makes about half a litre of cerebrospinal fluid a day and circulates it around the brain and spinal cord.
Keeping it well
A block anywhere causes hydrocephalus. In adults, walking trouble, memory loss and leaking urine together can mean normal-pressure hydrocephalus.
