Primary auditory cortex
Cortex auditivus primarius · Primární sluchová kůra
Nervous system
Looks like
A small fold of cortex tucked inside the upper surface of each temporal lobe.
What it does
Receives signals from both ears and makes out pitch and loudness.
Keeping it well
Sounds reach both sides, so damage on one side rarely deafens; protect the inner ear from noise, since it feeds this area.
