A branch of the pulmonary artery running up with its airway into the top segment of the right upper lobe.
What it does
Brings oxygen-poor blood to the apex of the lung to pick up oxygen.
Keeping it well
Can be blocked by a blood clot (pulmonary embolism); a CT scan with contrast shows it. Sudden breathlessness or chest pain on breathing: ambulance.
