Posterior leaflet of mitral valve
Cuspis posterior valvae mitralis · Zadní cíp dvojcípé chlopně
Heart & arteries
Looks like
The narrower, scalloped back flap of the mitral valve, tied to the heart muscle by thin cords.
What it does
Meets the anterior leaflet to seal the valve with each beat.
Keeping it well
The most common site of prolapse or torn cords; a leaking valve can often be repaired surgically or with a catheter clip.
