Septal papillary muscle of right ventricle
Musculus papillaris septalis · Přepážkový papilární sval pravé komory
Muscles
Looks like
A small, variable papillary muscle on the wall between the two ventricles, tethering the septal flap of the tricuspid valve.
What it does
Holds the septal flap of the tricuspid valve in place while the right ventricle contracts.
Keeping it well
Rarely a problem alone; heart surgeons must avoid it and the conduction pathway nearby.
