Anatom3DSuperior lingular bronchopulmonary segment
Segmentum lingulare superius (S IV) · Horní lingulární bronchopulmonální segment
Respiratory system
Looks like
The upper segment of the lingula (S4), the tongue-shaped lower part of the left upper lobe beside the heart.
What it does
Gas exchange; the lingula is the left lung's counterpart of the right middle lobe.
Keeping it well
Lingular pneumonia blurs the left heart border on X-ray. Otherwise mainly a landmark.
